Dawn Prayer Meeting

Well, as I mentioned when I was still in Intec, I finally joined the famous Korean Dawn Prayer Meeting.

Woke up at 5am just now and went to church. But frankly, the people who turned up are much lesser than what I expected, and not many youths were there.

Anyway, it was quite good. As this week is Holy Week, the passage today was about the death of Christ on the cross.

It did seem quite weird for me yesterday, going to school on Good Friday. I nearly forgot that it was Good Friday since there was no holiday.
Kind of unexpected from a country with 25% of its population being Christian.

And tomorrow is Easter Sunday. I'm still not sure whether to go to the stadium in Jamsil and see the combined Easter Celebration or go to church and see how the church celebrates.
The combined celebration is not something done often, so I want to go: but on the other hand this might be my only year attending Gocheok Church and I want to see how they celebrate......

Maths and Com Exams

Just sat for my Maths and Computer today.

I thought I did quite well for both this time, but my teacher told me that I made too many careless mistakes here and there, and most likely I'll be getting lower than 90% this time :(

Well, looking at the brighter side of things, my com was perfect this time. There were all in all 4 questions: the teacher shows us a Hangeul(Korean Word, something like Microsoft Word) document and what we have to do was create something like the teacher's within the given time.
The previous time I wasn't able to finish 2 questions, but this time I did it all =)

Well, will just wait till my results come out next week.

Bamboo Flute

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

My friends and I are taking up a traditional music instrument course at the The National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts. The course is especially designed for foreigners to help them understand Korea's tradition and culture better.

So for the next 11Saturdays, I won't be able to sleep till 10,11am in the morning, geesh....

I'm taking up Bamboo Flute, an instrument created during the The 3 Kingdoms period. Well, actually I wanted to learn the 12-stringed music instrument, but I won't be able to keep it as a souvenir after I finish the course and buying one is out of the question( 1million won!!!)

Anyway, back to my Bamboo Flute, it's not as easy as we thought, even after the first 1and a half hour lesson , some of my friends still couldn't make any sound with it.

Hmm, let's see what we can accomplish after 11 more lesson......

97.3%

Got back my exam results today.

As it's clearly shown, I've got 97.3%......can't seem to run away from the number 97.

Praise and Glory be to God^^

Frankly most of us (the Chinese students, those who studies Chinese) thought that this time it was much easier and were expecting a much better result, but then, it turned out the other way round.
The oral was much easier but the listening and writing was much trickier.

But amazingly I've got a friend who got 99.9%!!
But she did put in a lot of effort (at least compared to the lazy me) and sure deserves it^^

Arghh....sick....again

That's right, sick again.

And this time it's not just sorethroat, I'm having flu and I think some fever as well.
What's more? I'm having my mid-term exams next two days!!

Yesterday was White Day.
Nothing special to me. Not that I have any special person to celebrate with........
I actually bought some candies to give to those who gave me chocolates the other day, but since I didn't meet them during piano lesson, guess I'll have to eat it myself^^

I'm waiting for Black Day which is more appropriate for me.

So fast......

Heard that SPM result came out yesterday.
It's been a year.....
Still remember that I was having my driving lesson while the news came out on radio announcing that SPM result was release last year.
I wasn't really content with my results. But hey, what more to complain? I got my JPA scholarship, though it's not where I wanted.
But looking back at things, I'm glad I was given Korea. Met lots of interesting people, new experiences....
And I don't think I can study well in an environment like INTEC.
But one thing I really miss is the fellowship with my Christian friends......

Getting busier......

Was out at Sinchon on Sunday night with Debbie, a friend from China. We went to this cute shop that specializes in bean curd, from toppings to drinks to dessert to main dish. Splendid! Delicious!
After dinner we dropped by at a Board Game Room, it's a place that has a similar concept with a cyber cafe but with comfortable chairs and tables and they have different collections of board games, card games and the sort. Funny I never knew that such a place exists in Korea after being here for half a year.
Enjoyed my time:)

Starting this week, my swimming lesson is at 7am in the morning. I repeat 7AM!! Meaning that I have to wake up by 6am!
Well, sleeping at 4,5 o'clock in the morning is something I'm quite use to now, but WAKING at such a time is something I've not done since my trip to Seoraksan. Worst still is that it's 3times per week!
Kind of reminds me of my secondary school days......

Bulgogi/ 6 Months

6 Months!

It's actually 6 months since I set foot on this Land of the Morning Calm.
How ever did I survive without my Kolo Mee, Laksa, Teh Tarik, Chah Kueh Teow, Wanton, Kueh Chap, ABC, Rojak and all my favorite Malaysian food?!

Well, enough talking about Malaysian food. Yesterday marked the 1/2 Anniversary of my arrival in Korea, and it so happen that the Bulgogi making lesson which was suppose to be on next Monday was brought forward to yesterday.

The Bulgogi was indeed delicious! It reminded me of the first time we ate the beef wrapped in lettuce and mint leaves(?) last year during Moon cake Festival.

Will upload the photos later on.

Going for an orchestra performance later on.

Ah! My hand hurts!

After not swimming for more than half a year and suddenly swam for about an hour!

I'm taking up swimming lesson as well stating this month. Well, I know I'm already busy with my piano lessons and was busy with my mask dance and calligraphy before that, but I just can't help it.
I like learning stuff. And I would have registered for the Taekwondo class near my house if I had the money to spare.

Anyway, its' my first time going to a swimming pool after coming to Korea, but as I've heard from my seniors about it, so I wasn't shocked when I couldn't find any personal changing room and seeing people walking around naked.
And since I'm here, I just followed the culture and did what others did.

But then the question of whether it's wrong to do such a thing came across my mind. Well for the Muslims it's definitely a taboo to simply stand naked in front of others, but for me...?
The chapter on Abraham and his son came across my mind, but Iconcluded that the main concern in that passage was him being drunk.

Well, anyway, if someone has an answer, tell me. If not I see no point pondering over something I cannot solve.
